These terms are a draft for the GuildTales reading room, operated by Bobook Limited in Ireland. They are not in force until the draft banner comes off.

The reading room

GuildTales publishes English LitRPG stories to read in a browser. The first ten chapters of a story are free. Later chapters open with a paid membership. A chapter does not include narration unless a narration file has been added for it. Narration is AI-generated. AI-narrated audio, where available, is included at no extra cost. A missing narration file does not change the price of a chapter.

Memberships

A membership is an ongoing digital service covering every story, including future ones. Prices include any applicable VAT. Your purchase is processed by Stripe as merchant of record. The membership is sold to you through Link, Stripe's merchant-of-record service; Bobook Limited provides the reading room and grants the licence to read and listen. Sold through Link, LLC. Reader and Patron renew every month. Insider renews every month, or every year if you choose the annual price. A membership opens a set number of chapters ahead of the free ones on every story, or every published chapter, as described on the membership page. You have a 14-day right of withdrawal. How to withdraw, the model form, the pro-rata formula and when a refund is paid are on the refunds page. We email you a confirmation of your membership, including these terms and the consent you gave, straight after payment.

Accounts

You need an account to buy a membership. Keep the password to yourself. We will never ask for your password. The account email has to be one you can read. Do not share an account. Do not scrape the site. Do not abuse other readers. Do not try to get around the paywall.

Comments

You're responsible for what you post. Don't post illegal content, harassment or spam. Anyone can report a comment they think is illegal using the Report link or at info@bobook.club, giving the URL and why. We review reports promptly, may remove comments or restrict accounts, and will tell you why, and how to ask us to reconsider. Our point of contact for authorities and users under the Digital Services Act is info@bobook.club (English).

The text

The stories and the site design belong to Bobook Limited or its licensors. You receive a personal, non-transferable licence to read and listen in the reading room. You may not redistribute the stories, and you may not scrape them. Copyright notices go to info@bobook.club.

Liability

We are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or our negligence. Except as set out below, our total liability to you is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or for breach of your statutory rights as a consumer, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2022 where the service is not as described or not of satisfactory quality.

Changes and your rights

We may change the price of a membership, or what a tier includes, for a valid reason such as changes in costs, law or the catalogue. We will tell you by email at least 30 days before the change applies to your next renewal. If you don't agree, you can cancel before the change applies and you won't be charged the new price. We will never change the price of a period you have already paid for. If a change makes the membership substantially worse for you, you can end it free of charge within 30 days of the change, and we will refund any unused prepaid period, pro rata. Stories may be finished, paused or removed from time to time. Where we remove a story you were reading under an annual membership, you can cancel and receive a pro-rata refund.

Your statutory rights. The membership must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality. If it isn't, you have legal remedies under the Consumer Rights Act 2022, including having the problem fixed, a price reduction or ending the contract with a refund.

Ending your account. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms (for example, sharing it or circumventing the paywall). Except where the breach is serious or there is a legal reason, we will warn you first and give you a chance to fix it. If we close a paid account without fault on your part, we refund the unused part of your current period.

Changes to these terms. We will email you at least 30 days before any change to these terms that affects you. If you don't agree, you can cancel before the change applies. Any refund under these terms is paid through Stripe to your original payment method within 14 days.

Law

The operator is established in Ireland. These terms are governed by Irish law. If you live in another EU country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer-law rules of that country. You can bring a claim in the Irish courts or in the courts of the EU country where you live. We can only bring a claim against you in the courts of the country where you live.
